Migration SBS2011 to 2016 Server & change of domain from .local to normal one

Hi,

I just joined and plan our migration - like said we have a SBS2011 what will migrated to 2016 & additional we have to change the old XXXX.local structure to the company domain XXXXX.com

So what wonders me... will we first migrate & then on 2016 change the domain + rejoin or how is that made in general? ´
Thanks for any infos!

A domain rename can only be done if the SBS 2011 is no longer in your Active Directory and you do not have an Exchange Server on-premise. Please, read How to rename an Active Directory domain name of a Windows Server 2012 R2 with the Essentials Experience role installed. This is also valid for Windows Server 2016 and 2019
