  2. In the screenshot below you see that Microsoft Terminal Service ActiveX control is disabled. Set this to Enabled. IE may tell you restart the program Internet Explorer but we found that this is not needed. Click OK to close.

Create a GPO to enable the ActiveX control for RWW

We do not want to run around and adjust the setting for this ActiveX control manually. For this we use a GPO on the server.

  1. From the Start Menu open the Administrative Tools -> Group Policy Management. Choose to Create and Link a GPO Here...

  6. Choose 'Add'.. Now you need to add the CLISD specific to the ActiveX control that needs to be enabled. In our case that is {7584c670-2274-4efb-b00b-d6aaba6d3850}. Enter 1 in the value field.

  7. This is the result. Click OK twice and close the Group Policy Manager.

  8. Last step is to set the WMI filter to 'PostSP2'. That way we make sure only Windows XP clients get this setting because we don't need it for Vista clients.

  9. Go to a workstation and run gpupdate /force from the command prompt. After doing that check the setting in the Internet Explorer Add-ons. It should be listed as enabled and grayed-out so that a user cannot change it.
