All steps involved can be found on the Premium Technology CD (premiuminstallsteps.htm) but this document gives you a visual guide with screenshots of every step. In our forum we see that users install SQL 2000 but forget to check the setting in the installer that gives you the option to install 'Full Text Search'. If you do not install the 'Full Text Search' option it will not work in Sharepoint.

This article discusses how to publish a FTP site on a SBS 2003 Premium server with ISA 2004 SP2. You should only publish a FTP site on your SBS 2003 Premium server if you understand the risks. Passwords are send in plain text. This means that anyone with a packet sniffer can unravel the password transmitted when logging on to a FTP site.

How to use Exmerge for bricklevel backups

Using Exmerge can be a very easy and cheap way of backing your Exchange mailboxes on a SBS 2003. It can be used for disaster recovery or just for archiving old email. Before you can use Exmerge on your server you will need to change permissions on your mailbox store and download Exmerge from Microsoft.

Automounting SMB Shares on a Macintosh

Anyone who has used a Macintosh in a network environment for several years will remember a feature from OS 9 and earlier versions that allowed you to save logon credentials for a network volume. This would allow users to have those network volumes automatically mount on the Mac desktop when the user logged in on the Mac. As with many other features of the new operating system, this functionality changed with the release of OS X. As a result, there is no longer a simple checkbox that a user can enable to have a network volume automatically mount when the user logs in.
