Install the DHCP Server role and configure a DHCP scope on a Windows Server 2016 Essentials

Install the DHCP Server role and configure a DHCP scope on a Windows Server 2016 Essentials

Though you can use the DHCP server of your router in your network I am a fan of installing the DHCP server role on the server because you can do more configuration. In a previous document I installed the DHCP server role also on a Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials and we want to see if there is any difference in this with Windows Server 2016 Essentials.

In this tutorial, we also configure the DHCP server for your domain and set scope options.

DHCP NAP supported NAP support deprecated

When I did my MCSA 2012 R2 exam in 2014 one of the most difficult subjects was NAP. All though Microsoft dropped support for NAP in Windows Server R2 enforcement in DHCP was still supported. I don’t think many small businesses make use of NAP but I had one customer who insisted on installing NAP. That was a law firm that needed to protect their network in a way I have not seen before.
