Migrate Windows Server 2012 (R2) Essentials to new hardware

Migrating to new hardware can be a very good idea if your old hardware is too slow or you find limitations that you do not have on new hardware. Migrating to new hardware is really not that different from migrating an older OS to a new OS. We move FSMO roles and copy data using robocopy after updating policies and WMI filters. After that we demote and decommission the old server.
